Ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp. margarine or butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp. allspice
  • 1/3 cup skim milk
  • 1 medium apple, peeled, cored and coarsely chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. finely chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Spray an 8-inch square pan with nonstick cooking spray.
  3. In a medium bowl, beat margarine and sugar until well blended.
  4. Add the egg and beat well.
  5. Lightly spoon flour into a measuring cup and level off.
  6. Add flour, baking soda, cinnamon, allspice, and milk; beat just until moistened.
  7. Stir in the chopped apple.
  8. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.
  9. Sprinkle with chopped pecans.
  10. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  11. Cool slightly before serving warm.
