A hearty, cheesy brunch casserole with ham, bread, and fresh tomato slices, perfect for feeding a crowd or a weekend family breakfast.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices dry bread
  • 1/2 lb chipped ham
  • 1/2 lb prosciutto
  • 1/2 lb turkey
  • 8 slices American cheese
  • 8 slices Colby cheese
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese
  • margarine

Instructions

  1. Butter an 8 x 10-inch (or larger) casserole pan.
  2. Place 4 slices of bread in the bottom of the dish, cutting them to fit if necessary, and lightly butter them.
  3. Layer an even amount of chipped ham, prosciutto, or turkey over the bread.
  4. Place slices of American, Colby, or Swiss cheese over the meat.
  5. Spread the remaining bread slices with mayonnaise and place them mayonnaise side down over the cheese.
  6. Beat the eggs into the milk and pour the mixture over the assembled layers.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 35 minutes or until the casserole is brown and bubbly.
  8. Remove from the oven and place sliced tomato on top.
  9. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes.
  10. Let stand for 5 minutes before cutting into squares.
