Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1/2 cup Dr. Pepper
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa
  • 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

  1. Heat margarine and Dr. Pepper until margarine melts, being careful not to boil.
  2. Sift together flour, sugar, cinnamon, salt, and cocoa into a mixing bowl.
  3. Combine egg, buttermilk, baking soda, and vanilla in a separate bowl.
  4. Add the hot Dr. Pepper mixture to the dry ingredients and blend well.
  5. Stir in the egg mixture, mixing thoroughly.
  6. Pour the batter into a sheet cake pan.
  7. Bake at 350°F for approximately 25 minutes or until the cake tests done.
