Tips & Substitutions

For a chewier texture, try substituting half of the rolled oats with puffed rice or quinoa flakes. If you prefer a sweeter bar, increase the brown sugar slightly. Make sure to grease your baking pan well to prevent sticking. For a nutty flavor, consider adding chopped nuts or seeds to the mixture. Serving Suggestions

These energy bars make a perfect on-the-go snack or a quick breakfast option. Serve them with a dollop of yogurt or alongside fresh fruit for a nutritious boost. They pair beautifully with a cup of tea or coffee. For a delightful twist, try serving them with a side of Black-Eyed Peas Vinaigrette for a refreshing contrast.

Storage & Reheating

Store the energy bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, refrigerate them for up to two weeks or freeze for up to three months. Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use other dried fruits instead of raisins?

Yes, you can easily substitute raisins with other dried fruits such as cranberries, apricots, or dates. Just ensure that the fruits are chopped into smaller pieces to maintain even distribution in the bars. This will provide a different flavor profile while keeping the texture similar.

Is it possible to make these bars gluten-free?

Absolutely! Simply replace the all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend and ensure that your oats are certified gluten-free. This way, you can still enjoy delicious energy bars without gluten, making them suitable for those with dietary restrictions.

How can I make these bars less sweet?

To reduce the sweetness, consider cutting down on both the sugar and brown sugar by about a quarter. You can also use unsweetened applesauce as a partial substitute for the sugar, which will keep the bars moist without adding extra sweetness.
