Ingredients

  • 3 egg whites
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • 20 Ritz crackers, finely crushed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Beat egg whites until they stand in soft peaks.
  2. Gradually add sugar while beating.
  3. Mix baking powder with crushed Ritz crackers.
  4. Gently fold the cracker mixture, vanilla, and chopped nuts into the egg whites.
  5. Pile the mixture into a greased pie pan.
  6. Bake for 30 minutes at 350°F (175°C).
  7. Cool the torte completely.
  8. Cover with Cool Whip and refrigerate for at least two hours before serving.
  9. Top with fresh or drained frozen fruit before serving.
