Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 2/3 c. undiluted Carnation milk
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • dash of pepper
  • 1 (7 oz.) can tuna
  • 1/4 c. chopped pimento
  • 2 Tbsp. chopped onion
  • 8 French rolls
  • 8 slices cheese

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a saucepan.
  2. Stir in flour and cook briefly.
  3. Add undiluted Carnation milk and cook until thickened.
  4. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Add tuna, chopped pimento, and chopped onion; heat for 5 minutes.
  6. Cut the top off each French roll and remove the bread inside, leaving a shell.
  7. Fill each bread shell with the cream tuna mixture.
  8. Top each filled roll with a slice of cheese.
  9. Bake until the cheese melts and is bubbly.
