Ingredients

  • 2 c. water
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 2 c. raisins
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 c. granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. nuts

Instructions

  1. Boil water, soda, and raisins together for 2 minutes.
  2. Cream together shortening, brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
  3. Add flour, salt, and nuts to the creamed mixture.
  4. Pour in the boiled raisin mixture and beat all together.
