Ingredients

  • 6 Tbsp. butter
  • 2 Tbsp. chopped onion
  • 2 lb. beef strips
  • 1/2 lb. mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/8 tsp. ground black pepper
  • 1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1 c. sour cream

Instructions

  1. In a heavy skillet, melt half of the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onion and cook slowly until transparent, then remove and set aside.
  3. Raise heat to medium-high, add beef strips and cook briefly, browning on all sides.
  4. Remove beef from the pan and set aside with the onions.
  5. Melt remaining butter in the skillet, then stir in sliced mushrooms.
  6. Cover and cook for 3 minutes.
  7. Season with ground black pepper and ground nutmeg.
  8. Whisk in sour cream, ensuring it does not boil.
  9. Return beef and onions to the skillet and heat through.
  10. Serve over egg noodles or rice.
