Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 3 Tbsp. cooking oil
  • 1/4 c. chopped onion
  • 1/2 c. tomato juice
  • 1/3 c. chile sauce
  • 1/4 c. diced dill pickle (optional)
  • 3 drops Tabasco sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 (1 lb. size) cans pork and beans
  • 1 can French fried onions

Instructions

  1. Combine ground beef, salt, pepper, and minced garlic in a bowl.
  2. Saute the mixture in cooking oil in a large skillet over medium heat until lightly browned.
  3. Add chopped onion and cook a few minutes longer until the onion is golden.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in tomato juice, chili sauce, diced dill pickle (if using), Tabasco sauce, Worcestershire sauce, pork and beans, and French fried onions.
  5. Pour the mixture into a bean pot or 9-inch square baking dish.
  6. Optional: garnish the top with onion rings and drizzle with a little catsup.
  7. Bake in a slow oven at 325°F for 40 to 45 minutes.
