Tips & Substitutions

For a creamier filling, consider adding a bit of grated Parmesan cheese to the cream cheese mixture. If you don't have dried onion, fresh chopped onion can be used, but reduce the amount slightly. You can swap the salmon for other fish like tilapia or cod if preferred. Pair with a light salad or steamed vegetables for a balanced meal.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the Salmon Florentine over a bed of rice or alongside roasted potatoes for a hearty meal. A refreshing cucumber salad or steamed asparagus pairs well, enhancing the dish's flavors. This dish also goes beautifully with a glass of white wine, making it perfect for a dinner party or special occasion.

Storage & Reheating

Leftover Salmon Florentine can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place it in the microwave for 1-2 minutes until warmed through, or use a steamer to gently reheat, preserving moisture and texture.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use fresh spinach instead of frozen?

Yes, you can use fresh spinach! You will need about 2 cups of fresh spinach. Sauté it in a pan until wilted before draining and using in the recipe. This adds a vibrant color and fresh flavor to the dish.

Is it possible to make this dish ahead of time?

Absolutely! You can prepare the salmon rolls and refrigerate them for up to 24 hours before cooking. Just make sure to cover them tightly with plastic wrap to prevent drying out. When ready to cook, follow the same steaming instructions as fresh.

What should I do if I don't have a microwave?

If you don't have a microwave, you can steam the salmon on the stove. Use a steamer basket over a pot of boiling water. Place the salmon wrapped in green onion strips and lemon halves in the steamer, cover, and steam for about 12-15 minutes or until the fish flakes easily.
