- Trim fat from meat, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and cut into 4 to 6 serving-size pieces. In a large skillet, brown meat in hot oil.
- Transfer the browned meat to a 2-quart square baking dish.
- In the same skillet, cook and stir mushrooms, green bell pepper, and onion over medium heat for 5 to 8 minutes or until tender. Add more oil if needed.
- Stir in tomato sauce and chili powder. Cook until bubbly.
- Pour the tomato mixture over the meat in the baking dish.
- Cover and bake at 350°F for 45 minutes to 1 hour, until the meat is tender.
