Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 to 2 lb. ground round beef
  • 1 cup cracker crumbs or quick oatmeal
  • 1 medium green pepper, chopped (optional)
  • 1 medium onion, chopped (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup catsup
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Heinz 57 sauce
  • 1 1/2 to 2 cups Velveeta cheese, diced

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients except for the cheese in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  3. Shape two-thirds of the mixture into a pond-shaped form on a covered cookie sheet.
  4. Place the diced Velveeta cheese in the center of the meat mixture.
  5. Cover the cheese with the remaining meat mixture to enclose it.
  6. Spread catsup over the top of the assembled meat loaf.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for approximately 1 hour until cooked through.
