Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a saucepan.
  2. Remove pan from heat and add brown sugar, blending well.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Stir in vanilla, sifted flour, and baking powder.
  5. Add chopped nuts and stir lightly.
  6. Pour the mixture into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
  7. Bake in a 350°F oven for 30 minutes.
  8. Cool and cut into squares.
