  2. Break onion slices into rings.
  3. Put half of the onion slices in a casserole dish.
  4. Layer chicken on top of the onions.
  5. Add the rest of the onion slices over the chicken.
  6. Arrange sliced summer squash over the onions and chicken.
  7. Place sliced tomatoes on top of the squash.
  8. Sprinkle savory, marjoram or thyme, and paprika over the vegetables.
  9. Pour tomato or vegetable juice over all ingredients.
  10. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top.
  11. Cover the casserole tightly with a lid or foil.
  12. Bake at 350°F for one hour.
