Instructions
- Pour melted margarine over rolled oats.
- Mix thoroughly to combine.
- Add brown sugar, dark corn syrup or honey, salt, vanilla, chocolate bits, and chopped nuts; mix well.
- Pack the mixture firmly into a well-greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
- Bake at 350°F (or 300°F if using a glass pan) for about 25 minutes until the mixture is a rich brown color and bubbling.
- Remove from oven and let cool slightly in the pan.
- Cut into squares and remove from the pan.
- If toffies harden before cutting, reheat slightly to soften.
