Ingredients

  • 4 c. rolled oats
  • 2/3 c. melted margarine
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. dark corn syrup or honey
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. chocolate bits
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Pour melted margarine over rolled oats.
  2. Mix thoroughly to combine.
  3. Add brown sugar, dark corn syrup or honey, salt, vanilla, chocolate bits, and chopped nuts; mix well.
  4. Pack the mixture firmly into a well-greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
  5. Bake at 350°F (or 300°F if using a glass pan) for about 25 minutes until the mixture is a rich brown color and bubbling.
  6. Remove from oven and let cool slightly in the pan.
  7. Cut into squares and remove from the pan.
  8. If toffies harden before cutting, reheat slightly to soften.
