Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 green pepper, diced
  • bread dough
  • tomatoes, sliced thin
  • sharp cheese, shredded
  • ketchup
  • salt
  • pepper
  • garlic powder
  • oregano
  • Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Prepare your favorite homemade bread dough or use frozen bread dough, thawed.
  2. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  3. Butter a 10-inch pie dish well.
  4. Press dough into the bottom and up the sides of the dish.
  5. In a skillet, cook ground beef until browned.
  6. Add diced onion and green pepper to the skillet; cook until softened.
  7. Season the mixture with salt, pepper, garlic powder, oregano, and Italian seasoning.
  8. Spread the cooked meat and vegetable mixture evenly over the dough in the pie dish.
  9. Layer sliced tomatoes on top of the meat mixture.
  10. Sprinkle shredded sharp cheese over the tomatoes.
  11. Drizzle ketchup over the cheese if desired.
  12. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 30 minutes or until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.
  13. Remove from oven, let cool slightly, then serve.
