Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup wheat germ
  • 1/2 cup toasted sesame seeds
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup butter, softened
  • 6-8 tablespoons cold water

Instructions

  1. Combine all-purpose flour, wheat germ, toasted sesame seeds, sugar, and salt; stir well.
  2. Cut in softened butter with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal.
  3. Sprinkle cold water evenly over the mixture; stir with a fork until all dry ingredients are moistened.
  4. Shape the dough into a ball, then roll to 1/8 inch thickness on a lightly floured surface.
  5. Cut the dough into 3x1 1/2 inch rectangles and place on ungreased baking sheets.
  6. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 12 to 14 minutes or until golden brown.
