Ingredients

  • 1 quart sliced cucumbers
  • 1 to 2 onions, sliced
  • 3/4 to 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 3/4 cup cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon alum
  • 1/4 teaspoon celery salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon mustard seed

Instructions

  1. Place sliced cucumbers and onions in a wide-mouth quart jar.
  2. Mix together remaining ingredients.
  3. Pour the mixture over the cucumbers and onions in the jar.
  4. Place a tight lid on the jar.
  5. Refrigerate and shake the jar once a day for 6 days.
  6. Serve after 6 days; these pickles will keep for a long time.
