Ingredients

  • 6 or 8 pieces bacon
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1/2 green pepper
  • 2/3 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 (32 oz) can pork and beans

Instructions

  1. Cook bacon until crisp, then cool, crumble, and set aside.
  2. Brown the ground beef in a skillet and drain excess fat.
  3. Add chopped onion and green pepper to the beef and cook until tender, about 5 minutes.
  4. In a bowl, combine ketchup and brown sugar, then stir into the beef mixture.
  5. Stir in the pork and beans along with the crumbled bacon, reserving 2 tablespoons of bacon for topping.
  6. Transfer the mixture into an 8 or 9-inch baking dish.
  7. Top with the remaining bacon.
  8. Bake uncovered at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour until heated through and bubbly.
