- Line a 9 x 9-inch or 8 3/4-inch baking pan with foil, extending foil over the edges of the pan; butter the foil.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the brown sugar, condensed milk, and light corn syrup to the melted butter.
- Cook the mixture, stirring constantly, until it reaches the soft ball stage (about 235-240°F or 112-115°C).
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and nuts.
- Pour the caramel mixture into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares.
