Sixty Minute Dinner Rolls

Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 cups flour
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 packages yeast
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 stick margarine

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, thoroughly mix 1 1/2 cups flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
  2. Combine milk, water, and margarine, and heat until very warm (margarine does not need to melt).
  3. Add the warm liquid mixture to the dry ingredients and mix with an electric mixer on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  4. Add 1/2 cup flour and mix on high speed for 2 more minutes.
  5. Stir in enough additional flour to make a soft dough.
  6. Turn out the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth, about 5 to 6 minutes.
  7. Cover and let rest for 15 minutes.
  8. Shape the dough into rolls and place in a greased baking dish.
  9. Cover and let rise until doubled in size.
  10. Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 12 minutes.
