Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups cornmeal
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/2 cups sourdough starter
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 6 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 2 eggs

Instructions

  1. Combine cornmeal, sugar, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  2. Scald milk; pour over the cornmeal mixture and cool to lukewarm.
  3. Add sourdough starter, eggs, melted butter, baking soda, and cream of tartar; mix well.
  4. Pour the batter into a buttered 9-inch square pan.
  5. Bake in a 425°F oven for 40 minutes until golden brown.
