Ingredients

  • 1 lb. powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 lb. flour
  • 3 eggs
  • grated rind of 1 lemon
  • 1/2 tsp. hartshorn (powder - store extra in glass jar/glass stopper)
  • 1/2 lb. butter or oleo
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Mix oleo and flour with hands.
  2. Add sugar, cinnamon and lemon rind.
  3. Add eggs (beaten) and place dough in a floured dish; cover and let stand in cool place for a week.
  4. Roll dough 1/2-inch thick. Sprinkle on hartshorn, fold and roll out several times.
  5. Roll thin. Cut and bake on ungreased sheet at 350°.
