Tips & Substitutions

For the best flavor, use a high-quality rum and allow the cake to cool completely before serving. You can substitute the dried fruit with fresh fruits or even chocolate chips if desired. If you prefer a less spicy flavor, consider reducing the amount of black pepper. To enhance the cake's texture, sift the baking powder and soda before mixing. Remember to sample the rum at various stages!

Serving Suggestions

This rum cake pairs beautifully with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for added richness. Consider serving it alongside a fruity salad or even a slice of Hawaiian Coconut Pie for a tropical theme. A drizzle of caramel sauce can also complement the flavors beautifully, making it a delightful dessert for gatherings.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftover rum cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. If you want to keep it longer, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to two weeks. To reheat, simply slice a piece and warm it in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds, or enjoy it cold for a different experience.
