Spicy cabbage rolls filled with seasoned ground beef, rice, and vegetables, baked in a tangy tomato sauce for a hearty, flavorful meal perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 head green cabbage
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 3 Tbsp chopped onion
  • 3 Tbsp chopped green pepper
  • 3 Tbsp chopped celery
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 3/4 cup cooked rice
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • dash of pepper
  • 1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 (10 oz) can undrained tomatoes with green chiles

Instructions

  1. Remove 10 large outer leaves of cabbage; cook in boiling salted water 5 to 8 minutes or until just tender; drain and set aside.
  2. Reserve remaining cabbage for other uses.
  3. Combine ground beef, chopped onion, chopped green pepper, chopped celery, Worcestershire sauce, cooked rice, salt, and pepper.
  4. Place equal portions of meat mixture in center of each cabbage leaf.
  5. Fold 2 opposite ends over and place rolls, seam side down, in a lightly greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish.
  6. Combine tomato paste, water, and undrained tomatoes with green chiles; pour over cabbage rolls.
  7. Cover and bake at 350°F for 1 hour.
