Ingredients

  • round or chuck steak
  • 2 cans cream of mushroom or chicken soup
  • 2 cans water
  • onions (optional)
  • mushrooms (optional)
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon celery seed
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 cup salad oil
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon poppy seed

Instructions

  1. Pound flour into round or chuck steak.
  2. Cut the steak into serving pieces.
  3. Brown the meat in a skillet.
  4. Place the browned meat into a casserole dish.
  5. Pour the cream of mushroom or chicken soup and water over the meat.
  6. Cover the casserole.
  7. Bake at 300°F for 2 hours or until the meat is tender.
  8. Add more water if needed during baking.
