Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 3 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 3 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. lemon flavoring

Instructions

  1. Cream sugar and butter; add eggs; beat well.
  2. Add milk with soda.
  3. Add flour with baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
  4. Use enough flour to handle dough easily.
  5. Roll on floured board and cut out dough.
  6. Fry in deep fat until golden brown.
