Ingredients

  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup chopped dates
  • 1/2 cup chopped apples
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2 well beaten eggs
  • 3/4 cup chopped nuts
  • 3 teaspoons liquid sweetener
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 to 1 1/4 cups flour

Instructions

  1. Bring raisins, chopped dates, chopped apples, and water to a boil and cook for 3 minutes.
  2. Add shortening to the mixture to melt, then allow it to cool.
  3. Mix in the beaten eggs, liquid sweetener, vanilla, soda, and salt.
  4. Stir in the flour gradually until a dough forms, then fold in the chopped nuts last.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto an ungreased baking sheet.
