A colorful, layered salad featuring crisp lettuce, Swiss cheese, peas, and red onions, coated with mayonnaise and a touch of sweetness — perfect for gatherings and casual meals.

Ingredients

  • 2 c. romaine lettuce
  • 2 c. iceberg lettuce
  • 2 c. Boston or endive lettuce
  • mayonnaise
  • 1 box frozen peas, drained
  • 1 1/2 c. Swiss cheese, diced
  • 1 1/2 c. diced red onions
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 lb. bacon

Instructions

  1. Wash and drain all the lettuce thoroughly.
  2. Tear 2 cups of lettuce into bite-sized pieces and place in a serving dish or bowl.
  3. Dot 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise over the lettuce.
  4. Scatter one portion of drained frozen peas over the lettuce.
  5. Sprinkle 1/2 cup of diced Swiss cheese and 1/2 cup of diced red onions over the peas.
  6. Sprinkle 3 tablespoons of sugar evenly over the layered ingredients.
  7. Add another 2 cups of torn lettuce and repeat the layering: mayonnaise, peas, cheese, onions, and sugar.
  8. Finish with the final layer of 2 cups of torn lettuce, mayonnaise, peas, cheese, onions, and sugar.
