Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sifted flour
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 5 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup cold water

Instructions

  1. In the sifter, combine the flour, cocoa, sugar, and salt.
  2. Sift into a greased 9 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.
  3. Make three holes in the dry mixture.
  4. Into one hole, pour the oil; into the next, the vinegar; into the last, the vanilla.
  5. Pour the cold water over it.
  6. Beat with a spoon until it's nearly smooth and you can't see any more flour.
  7. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes.
