Swiss Pie
A savory Swiss pie featuring crispy bacon, melted Swiss cheese, and a crunchy cracker crust, perfect for brunch or casual dinners that satisfy cheese and bacon lovers alike.
Ingredients
- 1 cup finely crushed crackers ⓘ
- 4 tablespoons butter melted ⓘ
- 6 slices bacon cooked drained and crumbled ⓘ
- 2 tablespoons bacon drippings ⓘ
- 1 cup chopped onion ⓘ
- 8 ounces natural Swiss cheese shredded ⓘ
- 2 slightly beaten eggs ⓘ
- 3/4 cup dairy sour cream
- 1/2 teaspoon salt ⓘ
- dash of pepper
- 2 ounces sharp process American cheese shredded ⓘ
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- Combine cracker crumbs and melted butter.
- Press into bottom and sides of an 8-inch pie plate.
- Cook bacon; drain and crumble.
- Pour off all but 2 tablespoons bacon drippings.
- Add chopped onion to drippings and cook until tender.
- Add bacon, onion, Swiss cheese, eggs, sour cream, salt, and pepper to the mixture.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared pie shell.
- Sprinkle with shredded American cheese.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until a knife inserted comes out clean.
- Let stand for 5 to 10 minutes before serving.
- Cut into slices and serve.
