Tips & Substitutions

For a deeper flavor, consider marinating the ribs in the vinegar and mustard mixture overnight. If you don't have Wesson Oil, any neutral oil like canola or vegetable oil will work. Adjust the level of brown sugar for sweetness based on your preference. If you want a spicy kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the sauce.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the Tangy Brown Ribs with classic sides like coleslaw, cornbread, or baked beans for a hearty meal. They also pair beautifully with a refreshing salad. For a fun twist, try them with a side of Hamburger Pickles for an added crunch.

Storage & Reheating

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place the ribs in a baking dish with a splash of water or sauce, cover with foil, and heat in a preheated oven at 350°F until warmed through, about 20-25 minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a different type of meat?

Yes, while country style pork ribs are the traditional choice, you can substitute with beef short ribs or chicken thighs for a different flavor profile. Just adjust cooking times as needed to ensure meat is thoroughly cooked.

What if I don't have tomato sauce?

If you don't have tomato sauce, you can use canned crushed tomatoes or even barbecue sauce in a pinch. This will give a different but still delicious flavor to the dish. Adjust the seasoning accordingly to balance the sweetness.

Can I make this recipe in advance?

Absolutely! You can prepare the ribs and sauce up to a day in advance. Just store them separately in the refrigerator. When ready to serve, bake them as directed, adjusting the time if they are cold from the fridge.
