Ingredients

  • 4 medium onions
  • 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • Olive oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1/3 cup seasoned bread crumbs

Instructions

  1. Peel the onions and cut a small slice from the top, leaving the root end intact.
  2. Cut each onion into 8 wedges from the top, taking care not to cut through the root end.
  3. Brush four sheets of aluminum foil with olive oil.
  4. In a small bowl, mix balsamic vinegar, oregano, brown sugar, salt, and pepper.
  5. Rub this mixture on all surfaces of the onions.
  6. Wrap each onion in a sheet of aluminum foil.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 1 hour or until tender.
  8. In the last 5 minutes of baking, open the foil and sprinkle with seasoned bread crumbs.
