- Peel the onions and cut a small slice from the top, leaving the root end intact.
- Cut each onion into 8 wedges from the top, taking care not to cut through the root end.
- Brush four sheets of aluminum foil with olive oil.
- In a small bowl, mix balsamic vinegar, oregano, brown sugar, salt, and pepper.
- Rub this mixture on all surfaces of the onions.
- Wrap each onion in a sheet of aluminum foil.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 1 hour or until tender.
- In the last 5 minutes of baking, open the foil and sprinkle with seasoned bread crumbs.
