Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups raisins
  • 2 cups cut up gumdrops (no black or spice)
  • 2 teaspoons soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup Wesson oil
  • 2 cups applesauce
  • 2 cups chopped pecans
  • 1 teaspoon allspice

Instructions

  1. Mix sugar, oil, flour, applesauce, cinnamon, and allspice in a large bowl.
  2. Add raisins, chopped pecans, and gumdrops to the mixture.
  3. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.
  4. Pour the batter into a greased and floured tube pan.
  5. Place a pan of water under the cake in the oven to create steam.
  6. Bake at 275°F (135°C) for 2 1/2 hours or until done.
