Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups evaporated milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 pound large pecan pieces

Instructions

  1. Combine brown sugar, white sugar, corn syrup, butter, evaporated milk, and vanilla in a saucepan.
  2. Allow this mixture to come to a rolling boil, stirring constantly.
  3. Add, very slowly, one cup of evaporated milk, making sure not to stop the boiling.
  4. Cook over a moderate flame until the mixture reaches a soft ball stage.
  5. Add pecans and pour into a large buttered pan.
  6. Refrigerate overnight.
  7. Cut into squares and serve.
