Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup oil
  • 1 cup coconut
  • 1 cup oatmeal
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 3½ cups flour
  • 1 cup Rice Krispies
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Mix egg, shortening, brown sugar, and white sugar until well combined.
  2. Add oil, coconut, and oatmeal; mix thoroughly.
  3. Add remaining dry ingredients and flour; mix until combined.
  4. Fold in Rice Krispies and chopped walnuts.
  5. Roll the dough into balls.
  6. Place on a greased cookie sheet and flatten with a glass dipped in sugar.
  7. Bake for 12 minutes at 350°F (175°C).
