- In a large saucepan, stir together brown sugar, margarine, corn syrup, and salt.
- Cook over medium heat until it boils, stirring constantly.

- Stir in vanilla and baking soda.
- Pour the caramel mixture over the popcorn and nuts to coat well.
- Bake at 250°F uncovered for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
