A vibrant, fruit-filled salad with a creamy, sweet-tart custard base, perfect for brunches or special gatherings, combining marshmallows, fresh fruit, and whipped cream.

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups marshmallows, cut in small pieces
  • 2 cups grapes, seeded
  • 2 cups pineapple tidbits
  • 1 orange, cut fine
  • 1/4 cup sliced maraschino cherries
  • 1/2 pint whipped cream

Instructions

  1. Beat the eggs in a saucepan.
  2. Add sugar and vinegar to the eggs.
  3. Cook over low heat until thick, stirring constantly.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in butter and marshmallows until melted.
  5. Cool the mixture completely.
  6. Stir in the fruit, including grapes, pineapple, orange, and cherries.
  7. Fold in the whipped cream gently.
  8. Let stand for 24 hours before serving.
