Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 pkg. Taco mix
  • 3/4 c. water
  • 1 can refried beans
  • 1 small can tomato sauce
  • tortillas, small, medium, or large to fit your baking dish
  • sliced black olives
  • chopped green onions
  • grated cheese
  • Ortega chilies
  • butter

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, brown the ground beef.
  2. Add the taco mix and water and simmer until the liquid evaporates.
  3. Stir in the refried beans and tomato sauce and heat through.
  4. Place a tortilla in your baking dish and spread with meat sauce.
  5. Sprinkle with black olives, green onions, grated cheese, and Ortega chilies to taste.
  6. Repeat layers until the meat sauce is used up or the dish is full, usually 3-4 layers.
  7. Spread butter on the top tortilla and bake at 350°F until the top is browned.
  8. Serve with toppings like salsa, chopped tomato, lettuce, avocado slices, and sour cream or your favorites.
