Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter
  • 4 Tbsp. oil
  • 3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 eggs, separated
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 3 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. vanilla or 1 tsp. vanilla and 1 tsp. almond extract

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and oil with sugar until creamy.
  2. Add egg yolks and flavoring; mix well.
  3. Gradually add dry ingredients, alternating with milk.
  4. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites; blend lightly.
  5. Pour into 3 greased and floured 9-inch pans.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes.
  7. Cool.
  8. Split layers for 6 pieces.
