Ingredients

  • 4 1/2 cups margarine
  • 6 cups firmly packed brown sugar
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 6 medium eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla
  • 18 cups oatmeal
  • 6 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon soda

Instructions

  1. In a very large bowl, beat the margarine, brown sugar, sugar, eggs, water, and vanilla until creamy.
  2. In another large bowl, sift together the flour, salt, and soda; add to the creamed mixture.
  3. Mix well, then stir in the oatmeal and nuts.
  4. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets and flatten with a fork.
  5. Bake at 360°F (182°C) for 12 to 15 minutes, until cookies are golden brown.
