Veal Fiestas

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. veal steak
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 3 large onions
  • 1/2 c. chili sauce
  • 1/2 c. grated cheese

Instructions

  1. Cut veal into serving pieces; season with salt and pepper. Dredge veal with flour.
  2. Saute on both sides in hot shortening in a heatproof casserole; cover with sliced onions, chili sauce, and 1 1/2 cups hot water.
  3. Cover the casserole and bake in a preheated 375°F oven for 30 minutes.
  4. Remove the cover; sprinkle with grated cheese.
  5. Bake 10 minutes longer until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Remove veal to a hot platter.
  7. Stir cooked macaroni into the pan juices; heat through.
  8. Spoon the macaroni mixture over the veal and serve.
