Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cups mashed bananas
  • 2 cups flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk or sour cream

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and sugar thoroughly.
  2. Blend in mashed bananas, eggs, and vanilla.
  3. Sift together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture alternately with buttermilk, mixing after each addition.
  5. Add nuts and mix well.
  6. Pour batter into a greased and floured 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.
  7. Bake at 325°F (163°C) for 1 1/2 hours.
