Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. cocoa
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cube melted margarine
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, sift the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, salt, and soda.
  2. Make a well in the center and add eggs, vanilla, buttermilk, and cooled melted margarine. Mix well until smooth.
  3. Add chopped nuts and mix thoroughly.
  4. Spray a 9 x 13-inch pan with vegetable oil.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
