Walnut Onion Bread

- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 2-quart round casserole dish.
- In a medium bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and baking soda. Stir in chopped walnuts.
- With a fork, blend in buttermilk, melted butter, and minced onions until the mixture is moist.
- Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface.
- Knead for 2 to 3 minutes, until the dough forms a ball, adding more flour if necessary.
- Place the dough in the prepared casserole dish and score the top with an 'X'.
- Bake for 1 hour and 10 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack.
