Ingredients

  • 3 squares unsweetened chocolate
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts
  • 1/3 cup raspberry jam
  • 1 ounce unsweetened chocolate
  • 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk

Instructions

  1. Melt the unsweetened chocolate and shortening over warm water; let cool slightly.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat eggs, sugar, vanilla, and salt until well combined.
  3. Mix the chocolate mixture into the egg mixture.
  4. Add the flour and stir until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chopped walnuts.
  6. Pour the batter into a well-greased square pan.
  7. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 40 minutes.
  8. Spread raspberry jam over the hot brownies.
