Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 12 oz milk chocolate chips
  • 30 saltine crackers
  • 1/2 cup nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cover a 9 x 15-inch cookie sheet with foil.
  2. Place a single layer of saltine crackers to cover the cookie sheet.
  3. Melt butter in a saucepan. Add brown sugar and boil for 3 minutes.
  4. While hot, pour the caramel mixture over the crackers.
  5. Bake at 400°F for seven minutes. Watch closely and do not burn.
  6. Remove from oven and immediately spread chocolate chips over the top.
  7. Top with nuts if desired.
  8. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
  9. Remove from foil and break into pieces.
  10. Store in the refrigerator.
