Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 c. uncooked rice
  • 1/4 c. margarine
  • 4 c. boiling water
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 tsp. turmeric
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 c. raisins

Instructions

  1. Stir rice and margarine into boiling water in a saucepan.
  2. Add cinnamon stick, turmeric, salt, and bay leaf.
  3. Bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer.
  4. Simmer, covered, for 20 minutes or until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
  5. Discard cinnamon stick and bay leaf.
  6. Stir in raisins.
