Tips & Substitutions

For a richer flavor, try using homemade beef or chicken bouillon. If you're looking for a vegetarian option, replace bouillon with vegetable broth and add more vegetables like bell peppers or zucchini. You can also substitute bulgur with quinoa or couscous if desired. Make sure to stir frequently to prevent the bulgur from sticking to the skillet.

Serving Suggestions

Serve Alapilaf alongside grilled meats or as a base for hearty dishes like Stifado. It pairs beautifully with Mediterranean recipes that feature fresh herbs and a splash of lemon. Consider garnishing with additional chopped parsley or a sprinkle of feta cheese for added flavor.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, add a splash of water or broth to the skillet and warm gently over low heat, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. This dish can also be enjoyed cold as a salad or side dish.
