Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp hot oil
  • 1 can 6 oz tomato paste
  • 1 can 15 oz tomatoes
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 8 oz wide noodles, uncooked
  • 8 oz Swiss cheese, cut up
  • 1 12 oz carton cottage cheese

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef in a skillet and drain excess fat.
  2. Add minced garlic to hot oil in the skillet.
  3. Stir in tomato paste, canned tomatoes, salt, pepper, and oregano.
  4. Cover and simmer the sauce for 20 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. In a 13x9 inch baking dish, layer cooked wide noodles, Swiss cheese, cottage cheese, and meat sauce.
  7. Repeat layering until all ingredients are used, ending with a layer of meat sauce on top.
  8. Bake uncovered for 20 to 30 minutes until heated through and bubbly.
  9. Serve hot, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
